Caption: Film produced for the UIC's 50th anniversary which traces the history of the association from its creation in 1922 to 1972. It presents major issues arising from studies undertaken within UIC such as the standardised digital coding for international freight traffic routes in accordance with the OSJD, automatic couplings, Trans-Europe Express, EUROP (UIC wagon pool), the Eurail pass etc. The ORE is also mentioned for its research work. A number of UIC chairmen who succeeded Mr Louis Armand from 1959 also feature in the film: Mr Heinz Maria Oeftering (DB), Mr John Ratter (BR), Mr Donat Tarantowicz (PKP), Mr Erik Upmark (SJ), Mr Lucien Lataire (SNCB) and Mr Karoly Rödönyi (MAV). UIC's headquarters "rue de Prony" and the inauguration of the building "rue Jean Rey" in Paris are presented.
